So I haven’t done a news post recently, but I’ve been seeing buzz across the ‘net over who will be directing the big screen version of our beloved book.
/FILM has thrown out many names including:
- Peter Jackson (Hobbits, Hobbits, and more Hobbits!)
- Robert Zemeckis (Forrest Gump, Back to the Future, and too many more to name)
- Edgar Wright (Scott Pilgrim, Grindhouse, Shaun of the Dead)
- Matthew Vaughn (X-Men, Kick-Ass, Lock Stock & 2 Smoking Barrels)
ScienceFiction.com, Cinema Blend and more are reporting that Christopher Nolan has been offered the part. /FILM also reported this, and mentioned they thought the script wasn’t dark enough for Nolan who’s done films such as Interstellar, The Dark Knight, and Inception.
Personally, I think there is a magic spark that could shine from every one of those listed above, though I personally would big-fat-LOVE to see what Edgar Wright would do with script! What do you think? Who would do the best job taking Ready Player One and making it a visual playhouse?
